A little Life Update…

I think it’s safe to say, a little life update is needed. It’s been a while! Hello! How are we? I kind of fell off the face of the earth over here. There’s no real reason for it, I think the 3rd lockdown took it’s toll, as well as contracting covid in Jan, I’ve just had zero motivation to write. But here we are. The first post of 2021, and we are 8 months in, August!

So, a little life update. As I said, the end of January saw me contract Covid-19. I spent 10 days completely isolated from everyone, Liam’s parents, Liam, the girls – Everyone! I felt dog rough, but compared to millions of people, I got off quite lightly considering. It snowed the day I tested positive, so had to watch my girls enjoy it from the bedroom window. Hurt my heart a little. But once isolation was over, it snowed again – so I jumped at the chance as we headed out, all together.

March was Liam’s birthday as well as our 6 year anniversary. It was also the month that my maternity leave came to an end and I anxiously went back to work after 13.5 month’s off. 4 month’s back and I still have day’s that anxiety overwhelms me, but I’m learning to cope with it in different way’s depending on the situation.

April saw our darling Evelyn turn 1. Nothing like being born in a global pandemic AND celebrating your 1st birthday in the same one! We ended up celebrating twice so that several family members could celebrate with us. We went for a “Evelyn in Wonderland” theme. I had to make the cake (thanks covid) and the first one was a lot better than the second. She was utterly spoilt and had the best time.

We then celebrated Easter with Liam’s Nan, as she was in our bubble due to living alone. It was a lovely day and the girls are STILL making their way through the epic amount of chocolate they received!

May saw us hitting the road! We hired a converted campervan from a company called Quirky campers. We picked the van up from Oxfordshire and then made our way straight down to Southampton to visit Paultons Park, to take the girls to Peppa Pig world. Then we went to Swanage, to Somerset to visit my family (finally got to meet my nephew), then down to Cornwall to visit The Eden Project. We then visited Lantic bay, before heading back to Somerset to celebrate my 30th!

As well as a lot of working, June and July have also seen many day’s out. Chessington World of Adventures, Legoland. Molly has started Ballet and Swimming lessons and loves them both! We are finally sorting the allotment out, and have an abundance of potatoes, courgettes, butternut squash, tomatoes, sweet peas, sprouts and beetroot all plodding along rather nicely. I have a Summer bucket list that I can’t wait to start ticking off with the girls. Lavender fields, Farm visits, so many adventures!

I’d say the only downside to 2021 so far, is that the slipped disc I acquired whilst pregnant with Evelyn has been progressively getting worse. I am now on a variety of medications, as well as having physio. Even basic things like walking long distances causes a great deal of pain, and I find myself going round and round in circles with it all. I need to do gentle exercises, but it causes so much pain and inability to move,  so I will then need to rest and ice…and then basically repeat. This is my life at the moment. A constant circle of exercise, pain, rest, repeat. It’s infuriating. But Aug will be spent trying to get out of this circle and hopefully get on the road to recovery.

I am also spending August putting together the curriculum for Homeschooling, which will start in Sept. We tried to start last year, but Molly wasn’t ready. I continued to do loose play activities, but I think now she’s almost 4 and showing so much more interest, It should hopefully run a little smoother. We will continue to follow a mixture of Theorists and methods, to best suit us as a family. I also have no doubt tat as Molly grows, her way of learning will also grow and change. So having the ability to adapt is something im ready for!

There you have it, a little, overdue life update. I hope you’re all safe and keeping well. I promise not to leave it so long next time.

Thanks for reading,
