2020 Intentions Review

We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year’s Day – Edith Lovejoy Pierce

Oh 2020.

I think it is safe to say that people all around the globe are welcoming 2021 with wide open arms with a side of hesitation. 2020 – you were a huge pain in the ass for so many reason. For us, there were some amazing times, like Evelyn being born, and Molly smashing potty training as well as starting homeschooling. But looking back on our goals from 2020 – Well, I can’t help but have a little bit of a giggle! This post is going to be a reflection on the goals I set and ( if any ) the ones I managed to achieve.

2020 Life

Complete 1000 Hours Outside Challenge.

We definitely 100% smashed this. Along with probably the majority of England. Going for a daily walk became a life saver and we loved it. The only thing I didn’t do was keep track of how many hours we did in total. Hopefully this year, I will manage to actually keep track!

Starting Our Allotment.

We kind of achieved this one. we managed to dig and build 2 beds, as well as grow tomato’s…But that’s it. So yes, we did start it, but we didn’t do nearly half, even a quarter of what we originally wanted to do. Hopefully 2021 will be the year for it!

Reduce our waste even more

This went out the window. Mainly due to the pandemic. But buying stuff that wasn’t pre-packaged became difficult as it wasn’t being sold as much. When people were panic buying, we had no option but to get what we could/what was left. We did managed to secure a zero waste veg box with Riverford in the late Summer, which was a huge relief and meant we didn’t have to buy veg in plastic anymore.

Get out more.

Whilst we did technically get put more, we didn’t go out out. We didn’t visit all the places we had listed. Places like Kew, and Wisley, Heaver Castle, The Eden Project. We didn’t get to visit friends in Scotland, or Southampton. I managed to have 1 visit down to see my mum and sisters in Aug when restrictions lifted, And then I went up to Newcastle twice due to the passing of my sister – so whilst it was lovely to see them and for them to meet Evelyn, it was a bittersweet moment for us all .Liam and I popped in on the way back from Newcastle to see Caitylis for a cuppa, but we weren’t able to do all the trips and meet ups we wanted.

Hopefully this year, maybe the summer, will allow us to see a few more people.

Take Better Care of Myself.

Who was I kidding. I just had a baby int he middle of a global pandemic. I want allowed to see friends or family for a very long time and, nope. It didn’t really happen. I exercised more, but my diet didn’t really change.

Dip our toes into Home Education.

We smashed this – Molly smashed this. We started our rather loose Home Ed journey in Aug. Molly i loving it and I am loving putting things together for her. Turns out that the majority of the UK unintentionally joined us on this one due to the pandemic – but we are loving it!!

2020 Blog

Blog about whatever I want.

I like to think I completed this one. I posted about the things I enjoy. Granted, I didn’t post as much as I wanted to or set out to, but that’s ok.

To not worry about the numbers

Whilst I spent 2020 not worrying about the numbers, I did hit 10k on Instagram at the beginning of Christmas – which was an exciting moment. 2020 saw me meet new people through that little app, and make some wonderful friends who I can’t wait to meet with once we are allowed. I still don’t worry about the numbers. I don’t bother myself with the number of likes, or the algorithm, I just post and engage and that’s that.

A few other things I’d like to complete in 2020;

Pass My driving test

Haha – No. Didn’t happen. Couldn’t have driving lessons due to the pandemic, and then once we could, everyone was fully booked.

Move into our own home

Sadly, no. This didn’t happen. But it’s ok – we have plans 🙂

Organise and print our photos

I made a start on this and then failed miserably.

Finish Molly’s scrapbook

didn’t even pick it up

Finish family 2020 scrapbooks

No *face palm*

Minimise our possessions

Yes, we did this. We were renting out a storage unit of all our possessions from when we had our flat. In April we got rid of it and saved ourselves £300 a month! We got rid of items we no longer needed, either buy selling, passing down or donating!

Got to a family festival

Does it count if it was in our own back garden?

Hope for 2021

Here’s to hopefully a better, slight;y brighter 2021. full of love, family and all the things we couldn’t do in 2020!
