Baby #2: 16 weeks | Will the sickness ever end?

“A mother’s joy begins when new life is stirring inside… when a tiny heartbeat is heard for the very first time, and a playful kick reminds her that she is never alone.” – Author Unknown

A massive thank you to everyone who sent messages on here and Instagram re the news of Baby #2. We were so overwhelmed by all the love.

How far along?

Today I am 16 weeks +4 and boy oh boy has it been a interesting 16 weeks. You can read all about the first trimester here and how challenging it has been. I am yet to have a midwife appointment, but I know I have the same Midwife that I had with Molly which makes me happy as she was lovely. We had a private 16 week scan and it was so lovely to see our little one, moving around all over the place. I still think the 4D scans are amazing, but totally freaky!!

Symptoms?

Being sick constantly is exhausting. I thought the sickness had passed, but that lasted less than a week and came back with a vengeance. I have also had some really bad headaches, which I think are due to dehydration. They hit me like a train at 5pm and I have to go to bed and lay down around 6pm because It gets too much.

Total weight gain/loss.

I am currently weighing less than I did at my booking appointment, but that’s just due to the morning sickness. I’m 99.9% sure that once It eases, I’ll put the weight back on, and then some!

Any Food cravings?

All the fresh fruit and Veg! Apples, Raspberries, Tender stem broccoli, Celery to name a few!

Maternity clothes?

I currently only have one pair of maternity leggings and one Maternity top that I got from Peacocks. I need to invest in some more as I’m struggling to fit into my normal leggings without it becoming uncomfortable.

Any Stretch marks?

No new additions as of yet! Just my silver tiger stripes from my previous pregnancy.

How’s Sleep?

Recently, I have been waking up around 2am unable to get back to sleep. This is making things extreemly hard as I become tired during the day quicker. I try to nap when Molly naps and on my brake when at work – but it’s not always possible.

Best moment this week.

I think I’m feeling little flutters, but I’m not 100% sure. This week Molly woke up, got into bed with us and laid her head on my tummy. She started talking and said “baby mama” and gave my tum a kiss. Cutest thing ever!

Miss Anything?

Tea and Coffee. I still can’t drink either without seeing it again later, so I don’t take the chance at the moment. I miss just being able to eat in general to be honest.

Felt Any Movement?

I think I can feel flutters, but not sure. I know its still quite early, so it could be gas bubbles!

Have you started to show yet?

Oh Yes. Well and truly! I started to show very early on this time round. I am hoping it slows down a little, otherwise I am going to be huge by the end! Everything feels more squished this time round, I can’t remember it feeling like this with Molly.

Gender?

We have decided to be team Yellow and not find out. We have picked our girls name and are still struggling on a boys name! If you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments below!

Happy or Moody most of the time?

I won’t lie, I have been pretty miserable. The mixture of no sleep and sickness plus having to look after a toddler as well as the anxiety – It’s safe to say I have been struggling.

Looking forward to..

I am looking forward to the 20 week scan, and feeling baby move around more. I miss those jabs in the ribs! I’m also looking forward to Molly being able to feel the baby move!
