We’re Having Another Baby!

That’s right folks, we couldn’t be happier to announce that we are expecting baby number two!

This baby was planned. We started trying for a baby in April of this year, but sadly as many of you know, we lost the baby at the end of May. Making it my 4th miscarriage. We waited until things settled down and then tried again. I used the Ovia app to track my cycle, and we fell pregnant with this little bean first time. I’ve always been lucky I have no problems conceiving, and I’ll forever be truly blessed by that. But my body seems to struggle to keep hold of the pregnancy.

This time around I had help of the wonderful recurrent miscarriage clinic, who had me on aspirin and progesterone pessaries from the get go to see if they helped. I have had 3 cases of bleeding so far, at 7, 8 and 9 weeks. All due to a small internal bleed just outside of the pregnancy, which was terrifying, but I was told it would hopefully be absorbed and sort itself out. I’m nearly 16 weeks writing this, and so far we’ve had no more bleeds!

First Trimester Update

We found out we were expecting at 4 weeks. We told nearest and dearest and decided to keep it to ourselves, telling a few selected others the further along I got. I won’t lie, It’s been a rough first trimester, with Hyperemises Gravardum rearing it’s ugly head again and a energetic toddler to entertain, its proved very difficult at times. I managed to keep myself out of hospital this time round, but it took 2 lots of antisickness meds, and a few tears on my part. But the last week the sickness has finally eased down. I have been able to eat properly, go out and actually do things with Molly. It has been a huge relief! Never underestimate morning sickness and how shit it can make a woman feel – ever!

We can’t decide if we are going to find out the sex of the baby this time round. With Molly I shared the fact she was a girl, and her name before she was even born. This time we are either going to wait, and be team yellow, or Liam and I are going to find out and keep it to ourselves until bean arrives. We won’t be sharing names until they are here either this time. Everything will be announced once they have made their way into the world.

I am planning on giving breastfeeding another go. With Molly, she wasn’t interested. I had help from lactation midwives who came to our house, spent hours with me desperately trying to feed a tiny, screaming, hungry human. All the positions, nipple shields, the lot. But alas, Molly was not interested. As I look back now, I feel I gave up too easily. This time, I’m determined to give it another go!

I have already had a few questions regarding cloth nappies. We will be using cloth nappies with baby #2. We didn’t start using them with Molly until she was 1. So this will be a whole new learning experience for us. We bought some tiny newborn nappies from my good friend and fellow blogger Nia, as her little one has grown out of them and I’ve got some coming from Gee too. Forever grateful for fellow cloth nappy mamas! I must say, newborn cloth nappies are fricking cute! So darn tiny! We plan to use them and cloth wipes from the get go, so I’ll be stocking up on more wipes too!

There you have it. A rough update on our life at the moment and the new adventure that awaits us!!
