Fun at Bocketts Farm

Bocketts Farm Park is located in Surrey. It’s less than an hour’s drive from South East London and very worth the trip. I have been going to Bocketts Farm ever since I was little and it was always one of my favourite days out. We tend to visit during the week as it’s pretty quiet. Bar a few school trips that were easy to avoid. We went on the weekend once, let’s just say..Never again!

The Main Barn.

When you arrive you can buy some animal food and the kids get given little passports to fill with stamps located around the farm. Within the main farm building, there is a tractor track with mini peddle ride-ons for the little ones. It was a huge hit with Molly. She hasn’t quite worked out how to ride a tractor just yet, but she enjoyed me pushing her around none the less.

In the same barn there are also trampolines, a tractor to play on, a soft play area and plenty of seating. There’s a coffee bar here too which serves the usual coffee/tea/snacks and sandwiches. There is also a big indoor play area is on the other side with giant slides. However we are yet to go on there as we always run out of time!

Bocketts Farm have an extensive range of animals. In the indoor ‘Small Animal Village’ there are Rabbits, Guinee Pigs, Birds, Chickens, Mice chipmunks, ducks. As well as a meet a greet area where you can meet smaller animals, or milk a goat! As you walk around, There are several opportunities to get your farm ‘passport’ stamped.

Outside.

Outside, you’re greeted by Goats, Horses, Ponies and much more. Molly loved feeding them, At First Molly was loading up handfuls of food but then she was a little more reserved, giving them one piece at a time! We also went into the barn with all the newborn animals in. There were sheep and their lambs, alpacas and their cria’s, a mother pig and her piglets, as well as cows and some more goats.

Molly LOVED the lambs. I have never seen her act this way to a farm animal before. She was a lot younger when we last came, so I wasn’t sure how she would react to them. She was feeding them and stroking them and trying to give them all cuddles. Watching her love for these animals just made my heart burst.

The Play Area

Bocketts Farm has a wonderfully large outdoor play area In fact, It has several! There are 2 bouncy pillows in the middle of what I can only describe as a giant sandpit! One is for over 5’s and the other is for under 5’s. Molly loves going on these, but she hasn’t quite worked out how to get off without being flung off. She can’t quite jump yet either, but does an amazing job at running on the spot instead which is hilarious.

There are 2 go kart type tracks, again one for older children and one for younger. We didn’t manage to have a go on these this time as it was a little busy with school children. But it looked like fun! They also have pony rides at selected times throughout the day for children ages 3+.

There are not one, but 2 rather large playgrounds at bocketts. There’s one where you have a large sand pit, swings, 3 large tube slides as well as a climbing frame and a giant pretend horse and cart type thing. This is next to 2 medium sized trampolines that you can go on. The second park is literally opposite. It has a giant pirate ship style mound with tunnels. There are large wooden tree house-esque climbing frames, swings, slides and more. Molly loved exploring these and it was so nice seeing her interacting and playing with other children. She would help the ones smaller than her, heck, even kids bigger than her she was helping and holding hands with. She’s so loving and kind.

Tractor Ride.

After we got all hot and sweaty playing we went on the Tractor ride. There are designated times for these, so my advice would be to check when they are. It wasn’t busy so there was plenty of room. The tractor took us all around the upper part of the farm that you can’t go via foot. The views of Surrey are beautiful, my photo from my phone does not do it any justice. It was incredibly bumpy, and Molly got a little scared so sat on my lap for the most part. We saw Pigs, goats, cows, sheep and got to hear some amazingly interesting facts from our Driver Zoe. Different breads of each animal, how they make the animal feeds and more.

Pig Race

Once we got off the tractor, a pig race was about to start, so we went to watch. Each little piglet has a designated colour. They then make their way around a cutely designed track to the finishing line where they are treated to some food. Each child gets to pick a coloured flag to wave during the race, to represent the pig they support. Molly chose a red flag and found it funny to continuously smack me over the head with it. she wasn’t best impressed when she had to give it back!

The Kitchen Garden.

Before we left to head home, we stopped off at the Kitchen Garden. This is a patch of land that has been made into a large allotment. They have so many edibles there Kale, spinach, sweet peas, raspberries, carrots, cabbage and so many more. They have a beautiful range of flowers there too, some which are also edible. The farm use this produce to make their own jams, chutneys and soups to sell. They also use it to educate children on growing their own foods – a lesson i think is highly important and very much overlooked these days. Molly loved sniffing the herbs and stealing the odd spinach leaf to nibble on – Kid loves her greens!

We can’t wait to go back to Bocketts farm soon as there’s still things we haven’t done there.

Have you every been to Bocketts Farm?

Ahh, there is so much cuteness in this post! I have so many fond memories of going to farms like these when I was a child. That pig race sounds adorable! Pigs are my absolute favourite animal.
