Molly Is Ten Months Old

Dear Molly,

Our not so baby girl, you are growing up so fast, 10 months old – Double figures! When I think back to being pregnant with you and the long wait that that was, it seems crazy that it’s been 10 months since you’ve arrived. But on the other hand, I honestly feel like I’ve always known you. Just like every other month, this month has been full of milestones for you.

Your monthly updates:

Personality:

The main thing that has become so apparent with you this month is your big personality! You like to discover new things and can be very independent. You’re always so determined to do what you want to do. You are very content and very happy, but now you actually have opinions about things and openly lets us know when you don’t like how things are going down, either vocally or by your facial expressions. Or just saying “no” by shaking your head. You now display signs of frustration by vocalising and huffing – it’s slightly amusing.

You’re loving. So so loving. You give everyone kisses and cuddles, including all your toy animals. Too cute!

Five words I’d use to describe your personality are:
  • Cheeky
  • Loving
  • Playful
  • Clever
  • Sociable

Size:

I can’t keep up with how fast you’re growing! You are already into your 12-18 month vests and sleep suites and still rocking your 9-12 clothing for the most part with a few 12-18 month exceptions here or there. We are going to Scotland at the end of November have have been buying clothes in 12-18 for the trip and the Christmas period, hoping they will actually fit you! You have also gone up a size in pull ups and are now rocking a size 5!! Big baby booty!

Health & Development:

Developmentally, you have grown so much mentally this month. You’re now more cognitively aware of everything and everyone around you. You understand what we are saying when talking to you, and you listen to everyone everyone is saying. Your speech has come on leaps and bounds this last month. You can now say Mama, Dada, ta, no, uh-oh, and OK. When we sing songs to you ( especially wind the bobbin up ) you will try and do the actions with me. When we sing our clean up song, you laugh and bring me toys to put in your basket. You tell the dogs off by pointing at them and making a grunt noise and say no. You go “mmmmm” when you are enjoying your dinner (when you’re not throwing it on the floor for the dogs!).

When we are out, you will point at things and I tell you what they are. For example you’ll point at a car, I’ll say “That’s a car, the car goes broom broom”. You proceed to laugh and point to something else. Your dad and I have been reading to you since you were tiny, but you now make a choice of what book you want to read, sit without fidgeting, turn the pages, point to things and really enjoy it. It’s so lovely to see!

You are so mobile now that you are literally into everything. We have gates to try and contain you to a specific space for your own safety, but if someone leaves that gate open – you’re gone! You love to play chase, we often chase you around the house. You have managed to stand unaided for a few seconds a few times now, You walk happily with your walker or holding someones hand and we are encouraging you to walk without it!

Feeding:

You eat 3 meals a day with a morning and afternoon snack. You only have a bottle in the morning when you first get up, and right before we put you to bed. We have started you on Alpro kids milk and you love it. We got you a 360 sippy cup that you drink water out of, we make it accessible to you at all times so you can drink throughout the day when you want to. You still have a thing for Veggies, especially broccoli and carrots. You had your first taste of dairy free chocolate and you were buzzing for the next hour. Think it went down well!

Sleep:

You still sleep through the night. Your routine at the moment is:

Wake: 7am-8am

Morning nap: 10am-12pm

Afternoon nap: 3pm-5pm

Bedtime: 8pm-9pm

This all depends on what we are doing for the day as you tend to sleep when in the car or going for a walk. If we have taken you swimming then we can guarantee you will nap after.
