Getting our first real Christmas Tree!

“Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall.” – Larry Wilde

At the weekend we were kindly invited to experience the Christmas magic at @hanschristmasandersen.  Hans Christmas Andersern is a award winning, family run Christmas tree farm in Surrey. Their Christmas trees are grown in the surrounding Surrey Hills and harvested throughout the season to ensure everyone gets the freshest trees for the festive season.

This year they have loads of festive things to do whilst there! There was a horse and carriage ride ( Evelyn liked it once going ) We got to see Santa’s spare reindeer and you are even able to visit the big man himself! There is also hot food and drinks. We had a pizza and it was just wat we needed on such a chilly day. They also had the local firemen lending  helping hand, as well as letting kids go in the fire engine. The girls loved it and Eve didn’t want to get out!

We then had a look around the tree farm. Molly had so much fun running around, looking at all the tree’s. She was the one who chose our tree and it is honestly, perfect! Once you’ve chosen your perfect tree, you can either take it away with you on the day, or you can have it delivered to your house on a day that suits you for an extra charge! The girls liked watching all the tree’s get bundles up. There were some huge tree’s as well, gutted we couldn’t fit a beautiful 8ft one in our lounge!

We are getting our tree Friday at the new flat and we are so excited! Huge thank you to @hanschristmasandersen for having us and to @martinbamford and other staff for making our experience magical and less chaotic with two cold and slightly emotional children. If you are local, and get a real tree each year, I highly recommend heading there to get your tree!

PLEASE NOTE

A lot of councils this year are running a Christmas tree recycling service. This means your tree will either be collected, or you take it to a drop off point, and it gets broken down and made into mulch. My local allotment are also collecting Christmas trees. So it makes me feel better knowing I’ve loads of options to dispose of our tree responsibly.

Once we have the facility to have our own potted tree, we will get one of those, but for now – these family grown, real Christmas trees are a fantastic alternative to buying a new plastic one!
