Molly’s 1st Christmas Eve Box

When I was younger, we didn’t have Christmas eve boxes. This whole thing is a completely new concept that I have been dying to do! This year is super special because It’s Molly’s first Christmas Eve box, and our first Christmas as a family of 3. This year we are making quite a few new festive traditions, this being one of them!

The box itself was from ebay – I can’t remember what the name of the seller was as this was a 3am purchase. It is made out of MDF and very sturdy. You can either have it come flat packed and glue it together yourself, or have it sent to you already glued. I decided to have it sent already made, therefore reducing the risk of me gluing it wonky, or gluing my fingers together. The top part, you type in what you’d like it to say, and you can either have it come glued to the lid, or not. It comes plain so you can paint it and decorate it however you like. I already knew I wanted it to be red and white. Very simple, very classic. I chose not to have the wording glued to the box so I could easily paint it a different colour.

I had a lot of fun spray painting the box, although it took a few coats it was ready and dry when left over night. I’d advise to put some kind of toy safe sealant over the top once dry just to protect it a little better.

I had so much fun buying and putting together this little box for Molly. Obviously the items in the box will vary depending on how old your child is, but here is what we decided to put in Molly’s Christmas Eve Box 2018.

Pyjamas

It doesn’t matter how old you are, everyone loves a new pair of jammies! I really wanted to get matching Christmas pajamas this year, but everywhere sold out so quickly! So, Next year we shall be matching! I found this really cute onesie from ASDA back in November when they first bought out their Christmas range. When she gets older, I can add fluffy socks or slippers too!

Sweet Treats

Liam and I don’t give Molly Dairy. It’s a personal preference as e don’t eat it ourselves. However, we didn’t want her to not get a little sweet treat in her Christmas eve box! The lovely people over at Moo Free kindly sent us over a rather large stash of their chocolates! The Christmas themed ones have gone into Molly’s box, and the others are in the cupboard. These bad boys taste amazing and come in a variety of different flavours, orange, mint, honeycomb. Can’t wait for Molly to have her first taste of chocolate!

The cup I got from a charity shop. It’s just a little plastic cup I thought would hold her chocolates quite nicely, then when shes older she can use it.

Books

If you have been following us for a while, you will know how much we love the Usborne Touchy Feely books. Whilst at a garden center a few weeks ago I spotted this and has to have it. We are in no way religious, but I loved the book and the graphics too much not to get it! Molly always knows exactly where the touchy-feely sections are and always brings the books to me to read, so fingers crossed this is a hit too!

Random Items

These items are exactly what it says in the heading. Random. I wan’t planning on buying them. I spotted them whilst at Godstone farm back in October and as Molly loves ducks so much at the moment, I couldn’t say no! They are quite simply, little rubber ducks in Christmas outfits. Gingerbread man, an Elf and a Snowman. Simple, cute and I know Molly will now carry them around everywhere with her!

Soft Toys

Whilst in Scotland earlier this month, I picked up a Minnie and a Mickey Christmas 2018 edition plush toys. I knew I wanted to get Molly a Disney themed toy for her box, but these beauts were on sale so I couldn’t say no! They are beautiful and so cute in their Christmas outfits! Part of me wants to get them every year, but then part of me is like, do you really want a load of Christmas Minnie and Mickey’s.

First Christmas Item

Mother care had a little sale on before Christmas and I saw this little plaque and had to get it. It is a simple, wooden plaque that says My First Christmas on it. A beautiful item that we can keep for Molly when she’s older. Part of me wishes I had gotten a bauble too, but this is just as cute!

Christmas DVD

Growing up, my sisters and I would always watch the Father Christmas movie. I still to this day watch it every Christmas Morning without fail, Even when on the Disney ships, I watched it. I want to carry on this tradition with my little family, and hope that they will love it just as much as we did.

Something Special

I wasn’t planning on this next item. Liams cousin gave me a few items and one of them as this Disney snow globe. It is in perfect condition, and I decided that Molly should have it. She defiantly too young for it, but it’ll be nice for her to open and look at. Sentimental gifts like this are perfect for Christmas Eve boxes.

All ready and packed!

So That’s everything we are putting into Molly’s very first Christmas Eve box! I think next year we will do the whole magic key and reindeer food, when she can do it and understand a little more. I had so much fun putting this together and I can’t wait for her to open it up!

Are you doing a Christmas Eve box? What items have you put in yours?
